La Vallee des Singes

A beautifully landscaped sanctuary for 30 species of monkeys that allows visitors to walk amongst many of the breeds and observe them at feeding times in a natural habitat.

A ‘must see’ in this area and just 10 minutes by car from Le Jardin de Rose.

This theme park is like a futuristic universe packed with rides, shows and exhibitions on land sea and in space, some of which are the only ones in the world.

This famous park is just to the North of Poitiers and about 40 minutes by car from Romagne.

Oradour sur Glane

No one can prepare you for the effect this village and museum will have on you.

The old village is left just as it was after the Waffen SS arrived in 1944 and murdered almost all of the 600+ inhabitants, then set fire to all the buildings.

It’s about an hour away and well worth the visit.

Poitiers has an attractive historical centre with many shops, cafes and places to visit.

Poitiers centre is within easy walking distance of several cheaply priced car parks and railway station.

Things to do in the local area

Cycling

We have 2 bicycles available to hire but bring your helmets for your safety. You will see plenty of wildlife!

Water Activities

Paddle boats, kayaking and canoeing are all available near by at Vivonne as well as other activities centres and water parks.

Horse Riding

Fancy a few hours on horseback? Book at Equestrian Relay of Villenon. Families welcome. Only 30 mins away.

Fishing

Don’t forget your fishing rod! We have wonderful rivers to fish here in France. Find out more about getting a permit and the best locations.

Golfing

Golf des Brandes is a small 9 hole at Château Garner (86350) just 15 minutes away. We have two sets of golf clubs available, one right and one left hand if you fancy a round!

House Hunting

We are ideally based with most towns having established estate agents with an array of properties available. Some speak english.

Local Markets

If you like market days and rummaging around Broncante or flea market’s then there’s plenty here to do on your doorstep. 14 km to 70 km Please follow the covid rules – wear your mask, keep your distance.

TRADITIONAL MARKET – CHAUVIGNY. Get up early as it’s a drive of 54 km BUT well worth the drive as it’s one of the big ones. The Fantastic market at ROUILLAC has everything you could possibly need from cheeses to cognoc! Fresh cooked foods, livestock…chickens,ducks,etc. Buy your wine to take home. A day out for all the family .
